Mathco was born out of the need to provide CPA's and tax practitioners with a portable set of tools available outside of the office. Accountants and auditors often must go on the road and work at the client's site, leaving behind many of the tools that make them a success. Mathco Software is named after one of the most revolutionary computer innovations for the financial community: The Math Coprocessor. In the days of the 286 and 386, computers were designed to process only whole numbers efficiently (i.e. 1, 2, 3, 4, etc.). The Math Coprocessor was an add-on component which made processing fractional numbers (i.e. 1.50, 2.75, etc.) just as efficient as whole numbers. This single component took an ordinary PC and made it an essential tool for the financial community. We at Mathco Software strive to reach the same goal, to take an ordinary handheld and make it an essential tool for the financial community.
